Look Your Best at Summer Parties

For those of you who are going to the beach or poolside this summer (and not just to hang with the family but who are actually going to parties), it's all about looking healthy and glowing and never overdone for these types of occasions.

As in most things with fashion, less is more. If your skin doesn't look good in your bathroom lighting, most likely it will look less than perfect in natural light. I can't stress enough how important the right tone and texture is for these events in your lives.

Getting the Right Foundation

Is it possible to get coverage in a foundation without having it look like a mask? More than ever before, the answer is YES! This can be achieved with a variety of products on the market. Chantecaille's Future Skin Foundation is the choice of a lot of actresses who never want to appear overdone but who want that airbrush look to their skin. It comes in nine shades and is water-based for that perfect look and feel of good skin. For those who feel like they want less coverage, Chantecaille makes a good tinted moisturizer called Just Skin in four shades. Also, Clé de Peau Tinted Moisturizer, with an SPF 24; both give buildable coverage without revealing a "makeup" look.

A Touch of Color for the Mouth

Create a nude base to even out lip color. First, fill in the entire lip with a matte pinky-beige pencil like Shiseido Automatic Lip Crayon in CL1 or CL2. For those who lean toward a more traditional pencil, NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in BETTINA is always a favorite. Layer on a creamy lipstick like Clé de Peau No. 113 and No. 48. These "beigey" nude tones are neither too shiny nor too matte. It’s not necessary to be looking like Barbarella but, with that said ... if a lipstick is too matte, it clings to every line and is aging. Also, for those of you who are up to adding a little more dimension, YSL Touch Brilliance in No. 7 can add a bit of sparkle and fun to the lips.

For the Eyes

Choose a palette that mimics looking well rested and fresh. Some current favorite shadows are Chanel Golden Eye and Spices as well as YSL Aumbres and Quadrilemeres. You always want the tones to be a wash of color for the eye.

Other Favorite Products for Great-Looking Skin

One of the most simple and most powerful brighteners on the market is 3LABS Perfect Repair Serum. It gives a luminous yet never greasy texture to the skin that can mimic an airbrushed look. It improves the appearance of fine lines, skin discolorations and dullness in the skin and contains a cocktail of antioxidants. Even the most sensitive skin can benefit from this product. A great moisturizer that is antiaging yet lightweight is 3LABS Hydra Day SPF 20. It protects as well as moisturizes, allowing a foundation to wear well to its maximum benefits. This oil-free SPF 20 2-ounce jar is reasonably priced at $75 and is one of the best-kept secrets of actresses and stylists in the Los Angeles area. With this product, you never have to worry about skin looking dry, dehydrated or shiny with large pores. It's a must for those who want magic in a jar!
