The International Museum of Women

The International Museum of Women is a social change museum dedicated to valuing the lives of women around the world. At I.M.O.W., we believe in the power of technology to create change. Our unique online museum model at www.imow.org connects women from more than 200 countries through the arts, culture and history.

I.M.O.W.'s online exhibitions and community bring stories of women, by women, to women. In August, artist Anahi DeCanio, an immigrant to the U.S. from South America, shared images of her sculptures with our community and sparked a rich forum conversation on race in the U.S. political elections.

Rwandan Norah Bagirinka’s  personal story of survival inspired people to get involved in her Rwandan Peace Basket project, which invites Hutu and Tutsi women to come together to weave baskets. These are just a few of the more than 7,000 online registrants joining in the conversation at www.imow.org.

In addition to community voices, I.M.O.W. award-winning exhibitions offer original content in four languages – Arabic, English, French and Spanish – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from the convenience of your computer.

Our current exhibition, Women, Power and Politics, focuses on everything from political fashion to campaigns and elections. It features more than 200 stories, 100 take actions and exclusive interviews with some of the world's most notable women – from former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright to Afghanistan's youngest and most controversial parliamentarian, Malalai Joya.

I.M.O.W. also convenes diverse women leaders from around the world and organizes a popular speaker series in San Francisco.
