The Taylor Family Foundation
The Taylor Family Foundation’s Camp Arroyo was built upon the premise that “kids just want to be kids!” Its design takes into consideration children's physical and emotional needs, and was built just for them. Founded in 1991, The Taylor Family Foundation (TTFF) is committed to preserving wellness and enhancing quality of life for children in Northern California with life-threatening and chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities and youth at-risk through unique therapeutic experiences and support. Now in its second decade, TTFF has helped more than 14,000 children living with life-threatening illnesses, by giving them the opportunity to attend summer camp. In 1998, TTFF teamed up with East Bay Regional Park District to create Camp Arroyo, a Summer/ Weekend Camp in Livermore, California. Construction began in 1999, and by spring 2001, TTFF’s Camp Arroyo was ready to host its first camp, becoming the first permanent camp in Northern California for children suffering from HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. Camp Arroyo is built with lots of LOVE! We strive to give these children the opportunity to have a blast in a fun, untroubled, safe environment, where they feel comfortable, happy, and secure. They’re exposed to new activities, games, and experiences, and usually end up amazing themselves by doing things they had no idea — or dared not imagine — they could do. TTFF’s Camp Arroyo fosters independence, confidence, and trust in an environment where these kids can be exactly who they are, and feel truly included! And the best part is that this comprehensive camp opportunity is completely free for the children who attend! TTFF’s Camp Arroyo hosts approximately 2,700 children for 12 weeks during the summer and 11 weekends throughout the year, to learn more visit our site.
